Tracy Wyckoff Announced as Undersheriff Selection
May 11, 2022

Summer Scheyer announced her selection for Undersheriff at the Stabler Community Council Candidates Night meeting, held on 05/10. Retired Bingen-White Salmon Police Chief / retired Skamania County Deputy/Detective Tracy Wyckoff was named as Scheyer’s Undersheriff, if she is elected.

Wyckoff’s law enforcement career began in 1979 as a Deputy Sheriff for the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office. During his 33-year employment with the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, Wyckoff held numerous positions within the agency, including Patrol, K9 Handler, D.A.R.E. Deputy, Tactical Response Unit, Search and Rescue Coordinator, and Narcotics Detective assigned to the Clark-Skamania Drug Task Force. Wyckoff also had the honor of being selected as Deputy of the Year, on three separate occasions, by his peers.

In 2012, Wyckoff was appointed as Chief of Police for the Bingen-White Salmon Police Department and remained in that position until his retirement in 2017. During his tenure as Chief, Wyckoff built a good rapport with both cities, as well as with surrounding law enforcement agencies within the Columbia River Gorge. Wyckoff secured new technology, new vehicles, replaced equipment, increased training, and revised policies and procedures, all while maintaining a balanced annual budget of approximately 1,000,000 dollars.

Wyckoff states, “I believe law enforcement is a major part of our communities and must be accountable and open to the public. I feel, as an officer and leader, I was able to serve those who needed help in a positive way.”

Wyckoff currently resides in Home Valley and is excited for this next chapter in his law enforcement career.
